I have the National Geographic magazine in which there is a large poster with pictures of this cheetah running and pictures of penguins swimming and jumping out of water.I really wanted to make a drawing related to how penguins jump from water, because it's very interesting. It was the best birthday present! In the new number there are pictures of all sorts of paradise birds! My mind explode Thank you for sharing the link, I wanted to search for it for some time.
Heh, penguins jumping from the water always reminds me of footage in a making-of of a nature documentary in which a cameraman was crouched on the edge of an iceberg waiting for penguins to leap out, but he got a bit closer than he'd planned and they bombarded him like torpedoes. The penguins looked just as surprised as the man
Glad you liked the link! Nat Geo does some excellent stuff!
I can only imagine being hit by a penguin "flying" like a torpedo towards you Ouch. It's pretty cool how they make these jumps. Before getting ready to jump, they go at the surface of the sea stocking air under their feathers. They can literally control their feathers, so that when they go underwater the air can't escape. Then they go at the bottom and release the bubbles of air which makes them jump out of the water like a ball full of air.
